Members Needed for New Ad Hoc PO
Committee
Hi everyone.
At a recent meeting,
the PO Board members
agreed to the need for a
new , ad hoc committee
on PO financial
planning issues. We
are hoping to get some
folks who have
heretofore not
participated with the PO
in addition to some
stalwarts of PO Board
work so that we can
broaden the scope of
input and expertise on
the group. The PO's
Treasurer and the Meet
Finance Director will
serve on this group.
This group will be
charged with evaluating
the current savings and
investment practices of
the PO, designing a
savings policy,
if appropriate, and
providing a draft
financial direction for
the PO Board to
consider.
Please take a moment to
look at the PO Bulletin
Board to see more
details and to sign up
if this interests you.
The time commitment
should not be
overwhelming- a
few meetings and some
e-mail traffic.

parents willing and able to run
for SLGC PO’s Treasurer slot for
a two year term: Michelle Ohley
and Heather Socha.
Please

at the front desk.
Elections will begin
immediately, Tuesday, 9/13,

As we did last time, the voting
process will occur at the gym’s
front desk. Bios are posted on
the PO Bulletin Board and at the
front desk.
There will be one ballot per
USAG Team family available at
the front desk.
·
Take a numbered ballot;
·
Sign for it (you do not give the
number of the ballot when you
sign- this is an anonymous
process.
We are only numbering to
be sure we have the right
count.);
·
Vote,
and
·
Place ballot in PO Ballot Box.
There will not be any extra
ballots, so please do not lose
yours.
Once you have signed for
a ballot, we consider that your
voting privilege has been
exercised.
The front desk will be
conducting this voting process
and two officers ( or one
officer and a front desk staff
member) will count and sign for
the ballots at the end of the

Update on Gym/USA Team Feedback
Surveys
|
To:
All USAG Team
Families
From:
2010-11 SLGC PO
Board
Re:
Update on Gym/USA
Team Feedback Surveys
Date:
9/9/11
Recently, you were asked
to complete a Feedback
Survey about the gym.
The instruments
were designed by Heather
Socha and other parents
from the USA Women's
Team and Michelle Ohley
and others from the USA
Men's Team at the behest
of the SLGC PO.
There was a 50%
response from both the
Women's USA Team
families as well as the
Men's USA Team families;
numbers with
which the Board was
pleased.
At
its most recent meeting,
the PO Board decided to
have the survey
facilitators turn over
the document and the
responses to gym
administration for use
in discussions with the
team coaches and for
future reference. The
Board did not review the
findings because it was
felt that this tool
should be used
internally by gym staff
in a climate of
continuous quality
improvement.
The Board hopes that the
gym will continue the
practice of surveying
their customers and
appreciates that
many of you took the
time to answer the
rather lengthy form.
Please feel free to ask
a Board member or a
survey facilitator about
any questions you may
have that relate to the
process.

September 6- Level Rep Elections
|
TO:
ALL USA Team
Families
Re:
Level Rep
Elections
Beginning Wednesday,
September 7th,
all USA Team families
will have a chance to
vote for the folks who
will be their Level
Rep(s) to the SLGC PO
Board for the upcoming
program year.
You will need to come
into the gym to vote as
the ballots will be in
your child's mailbox.
The first meeting of the
new Reps and Board will
be held on
September 19th
at 6 p.m. at
Llywelyn's on Moody
Street in Webster
so we need to get these
elections done by the 15th
to allow for counting
and notification.
The Process:
By
Wednesday, 9/7/11, each
USA Team child's gym
mail box (boxes) will
hold Level-specific
ballot(s).
Ballots will be
either pink or blue to
help with counting.
A
copy of the entire slate
is attached for your
information.
·
For families with
more than one child
on the USA Team, all
ballots will be in one
box.
·
Each family gets
one vote
for each child on
the USA Team at a
specific level.
·
Families are asked to
complete the
level-specific ballots
and place in the PO's
ballot box at the front
desk.
·
Families will note that
the
option
to “Accept the Slate”
appears on many ballots.
This is because
the PO's Rules
specifically allow for
job-sharing and given
the very busy lives of
one and all, folks have
found it important to
have an alter ego so
that meetings can be
covered more easily.
These folks want to
serve together. The
Accept the Slate option
meets their needs in
this regard.
·
There is going to be
one contested election.
At one of the Men's Team
levels, there are more
than two folks willing
to serve in this
capacity.
Those ballots ask
that folks at those
levels “vote for two”
and the two with the
most votes will be
elected.
·
There are also some
current voting Board
members (who will serve
during this upcoming
program year) who have
also agreed to run and
serve as Level Reps.
This is permissible
according to our Rules
and in some of these
cases their willingness
to take on more
responsibility completed
the slate at their
child's level.
However, we are
reminded that our Rules
explicitly state that
regardless of the number
of Board seats held by
one individual, that one
individual has only one
vote.
If
you have agreed to run,
thank you and please
note the date of the
upcoming meeting on your
calendar.
The Outcome:
By
the 16th, the
officers will have
counted the ballots and
a memo will be sent to
all USAG Team families
announcing the results.

June 27- PO Treasurer Election
|
Dear SLGC USAG Team
Families:
This is the time of year
when we elect our
Parents' Organization
officer(s) for the
upcoming period.
This year, we are
to elect a Treasurer for
a two-year term.
We have three
nominees for this
position and all have
agreed to serve if
elected:
Cara Frisella,
Michelle Ohley, and Lee
Ann Sheehan.
Before you
vote, please take a
moment to review the
bios written by the
candidates that can be
found below.
The bios are also
posted on the PO's
Bulletin Board and there
is a copy of all three
at the desk.
In order to try to
ensure a fair voting
process, we will be
using paper ballots that
will be available at the
front desk starting
Tuesday, June 28th
until
Wednesday, July 13th
.
Each USAG Team family
gets
one vote for an
officer regardless of
the number of children
on the Team.
How
to Vote
In order to vote, please
go to the front desk and
ask for a ballot.
The ballots will
be numbered but you can
choose any ballot and
you
do not need to
record the number of
your ballot anywhere.
The numbers are there to
ensure that we don’t
somehow have more
ballots submitted than
we have Team families.
You will need to initial
a copy of the roster at
the desk to get your
ballot.
Please mark your choice,
fold the ballot and
place it in the flowered
PO Ballot Box at the
desk.
The three officers not
running for election
this year (the
President, Secretary and
current Treasurer) are
charged with overseeing
the election as is
described in the PO's
Rules of Operation.
If you are not able to
get to the gym during
this period, you may
contact Elizabeth
Strevey (doctracy@aol.com),
Sarah Jozwiakowski
(randysarahjoz@sbcglobal.net),
or Sandy
Marcallini (smarcallini@charter.net)
to ask one of them to
create a proxy for your
vote.
Your request will
need to be confirmed in
writing.
The person with the most
votes will be declared
the winner after the
election has closed.
An announcement
will be sent out to
everyone after the votes
have been tallied.
We are lucky to have
three parents interested
in doing more for the PO
in this key position.
Please take time
to vote for the person
you think will best
serve the interests of
the PO and its members-
all of the USAG Team
families and their
gymnasts.

pursuant to our Rules of
Operation, we are to
nominate and elect a
Treasurer for a two year
term.
Our President and
Secretary will be up for
election next year in

Our Rules of
Operation state that the
officer currently
serving is eligible for
re-nomination and
re-election and Sandy
Marcallini has indicated
that she is willing to
continue to serve if
that is the will of the
membership.
Last year, when
Heather Kelley’s
daughter left the gym,
Sandy offered to step
into Heather’s PO
Treasurer for the final
year of Heather’s term
and the Board approved
as is required by our

nominate individuals for
the officer position.
