David Frazier
Martial Arts Director

Master David Frazier is a sixth degree black belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Kido. He has been instructing students for over 20 years, all the while continuing his own training. Master Frazier teaches both Tae Kwon Do (basic use of kicks and hands) as well as Hap Kido (self defense based martial art).

 

Women's USAG Team Coaches

Nick Hand- Women's USAG Gymnastics Team Director  slgchand@gmail.com

Nick Hand joined SLGC as the Women's USAG Team Head Coach in June of 2009, after serving since 2006, as the Director/Head Girls' Team Coach at the YMCA in Champaign, Illinois.  Nick also worked at Olympiad, Ellisville in 2005, after having worked at the Champaign Y starting in 2001.   Nick, who grew up in Chicago, was a well-rounded athlete who started serious gymnastics at age 15 and quickly became very involved.   His obvious talent and hard work allowed him to progress rapidly and he was able to walk on the Men's Gymnastics team at U of I.   As a four-time letter winner on a team that placed 2nd at the NCAA championships two years in a row, he was elected Team Captain in his senior year.    Nick and his wife moved from Champaign to St. Louis in May of 2009.

Laura Faintich- Women's Team Coach  lfaintich@stlouisgymcentre.com

Laura Faintich is a senior coach of SLGC's USAG Women's Gymnastics Team.   Laura began her coaching career at SLGC in 1999, and is the Women's Team Levels 8, 9 and 10 coach for balance beam and floor exercise.  She also creates the beam and floor choreography for Levels 7-10.  Laura trained as a gymnast at Team Central and competed as a Level 10 placing 6th and 8th on Floor Exercise at Level 10 National Championships.   Laura won many state and regional titles throughout her career and received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Missouri, Columbia.  Married to Jimmy since 2006, Laura has a baby girl, Taylor, born in 2008.

Amy King - Women's Team Coach  aking@stlouisgymcentre.com

Amy has been coaching team gymnastics at SLGC since 1999.  She is currently the Levels 6 and 7 beam and floor coach.  A native of Webster Groves, Amy was an optional gymnast at SLGC.   Amy graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, with a degree in elementary education.   Married to husband Nick since 2005, Amy had a son Braden in June of 2008, and is enjoying being a mommy.

Carrie Moynihan - Women's Team Coach  chubbell@stlouisgymcentre.com

Carrie Moynihan, who is in her eighth year of coaching at SLGC, currently coaches as the Women's Team Levels 6 and Level 7 vault and bars coach.  She has been a gymnastics instructor since 2000, in CA and MO.   As a Level 10 gymnast, she qualified for J.O. Nationals four times.  Carrie earned a full scholarship to the University of Illinois, Chicago, from which she graduated with a B.A. in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in Athletic Training.  Carrie was married in April, 2011, in South Lake Tahoe.

Wendy Garner - Women's Team Coach  wgarner@stlouisgymcentre.com

Wendy has been a coach at SLGC for many years and was a gymnast herself at SLGC for 8 years.   She started teaching gymnastics at age 15.  Wendy attended Mizzou and returned to SLGC in 2004, to teach compulsory girls.  Recently, she took a two-year break from coaching gymnastics to spend time with her family but happily returned in June to coach at the compulsory levels.    Wendy has been married to Richie since 2009, and is mom to Grady who was born in April, 2011.

Jenny Polk - Women's Team Coach  jpolk@stlouisgymcentre.com

Jenny Polk has been coaching competitive gymnasts since 1992.  Currently, Jenny coaches Women's Team Levels 7 & 8 in bars and vault.  Jenny has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Special Education.  Jenny is a Chief in the Navy and has 20 years in the Navy Reserves.  She has one daughter, Bree, who is a former Level 10 gymnast at SLGC.

Julie Rickey - Women's Team Coach  jrickey@stlouisgymcentre.com

Julie has been coaching at SLGC for 23 years.  She used to travel in the SLGC bus to bring gymnastics to students in the community.  Julie was a gymnast for many years at SLGC.   Currently, she coaches levels 4 and 5.  Julie, who has a degree in Elementary Education, is married to Mike and has four children on the USAG team: 2 girls at Level 7, a girl at Level 5 and a boy at Level 9.

Megan Bockskopf - Women's Team Coach  mbockskopf@stlouisgymcentre.com

Megan Bockskopf, has been a coach at SLGC since 1998.  She coaches Level 4 and 5 and was herself a gymnast for five years.  She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and currently teaches pre-school. Megan had her first child in July of 2011.

John Toczek - Women's Team Coach 

John is currently a coach for the USAG Women’s Team on bars for Levels 4-10 and for the US Team on bars at all levels.    John is also a diving coach for the Parkway School District.   After being a diver for 8 years, John then coached gymnastics at a nearby facility for 3 years.   John is originally from Kansas City and recently graduated from Lindenwood University with a double major in Chemistry and Math.

 

Men's Gymnastics Team Coaches

Mike Filla - Men's USAG Gymnastics Team Director  mfilla@stlouisgymcentre.com

Mike Filla has been the Head Coach of the SLGC USAG Men's Team since 2006. Currently, Mike personally coaches the Levels 9 and 10 men.   While at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Mike was a member of the University's Men's Gymnastics Team (from 1999-2004) and a four-year Varsity Letter winner. Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and works as an accountant. Mike attended DeSmet Jesuit High School and was Missouri State Men's Gymnastic Champion in 1999.

Travis Kitchen - Men's USAG Team Assistant Head Coach  tkitchen@stlouisgymcentre.com

Travis Kitchen, who as Assistant Head Coach works with the USAG Men's Team Levels 5, 6, and 7, has worked at various times for SLGC since 1994.   Travis trained at SLGC and was State Champion from 1996-1998.  He was an alternate National Team member in 1998 and went on to J.O. Nationals five times.   Travis obtained his Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Dance from Temple University where he not only competed for Temple's NCAA Team but also coached during the 2006-7 season.

Danny Fetzner - Men's USAG Team Assistant Head Coach  dfetzner@stlouisgymcentre.com

Danny Fetzner, an SLGC Men's Team Assistant Head Coach, has been involved in the sport of gymnastics since he was 4.  He competed up through Level 9 and then became a diver.  However, his passion remains gymnastics and coaching the sport.   Danny, who began his coaching career in 1999, was raised in Champaign, Illinois, and went to Parkland Community College.  At SLGC, Danny coaches Level 4, 6 and 7 of the USAG Men's Team.

 

Unsanctioned Gymnastics Team Coaches

Michelle Redford -US (Unsanctioned) Girls' & Boys' Team Director mredford@stlouisgymcentre.com

Michelle Redford, who has been gymnastics in the St. Louis area since she 1992, grew up in St. Charles and attended the YMCA there for 12 years.  Michelle was appointed Director of the Men's and Women's US Team at SLGC in June of 2009.  Michelle enjoys coaching all levels of gymnastics from pre-school through Level 10.  Married to husband Jeff since 1999, Michelle has two boys, Carter and Mason.

Ana Cox - Girl's Unsanctioned Team Coach

Anna, a Webster Groves native and former SLGC gymnast for 13 years, is the Girls’ US Team beam coach.  She was a multiple-time Missouri State and Regional Champion and a J.O. National Qualifier.   She completed her gymnastics career as a Level 10, but continued to pursue her passion by coaching in both MO and North Carolina where she attended Elon University.  She graduated in May of 2011, with a degree in Exercise Sport Science and plans to attend graduate school to pursue a course of study leading to a career in nursing.

Meg Nash - Girl's Unsanctioned Team Coach

Meg Nash is currently a US Girls' Team coach, a position she has held since 2001.  Meg specializes in coaching bars, though she had been the US Team's bars coach since 2001.    Meg herself was a gymnast in Connecticut and was coached for a period by Marta Karolyi.  Meg and Tim, to whom she has been married since 1992, have three children: Kelly a Level 8 gymnast, Molly a Level 6 gymnast and Maggie.  Meg also teaches art and previously worked on the comic strip "Prince Valiant" with her late father.

Emily Reid - Girl's Unsanctioned Team Coach'

Emily Reid, who graduated with a Fine Arts major from Fontbonne, has coached gymnastics at SLGC since the spring of 2002.  She herself studied gymnastics at SLGC from age 6-13 after which she competed at Levels 5-8 at Planet Gymnastics until she was 17.  Emily, a Webster Groves native, coaches recreational classes in addition to the US Girls' Team.  Emily specializes in coaching floor exercise.

Paul Hampton - Boy's Unsanctioned Team Coach

Paul, a junior at Parkway South, is currently coaching US Team Boys at SLGC after spending 14 years learning the sport himself.  He was the MO state champion 6 times, a two time Regional Team Qualifier and a four time J.O. National Qualifier.  Paul is planning to attend Mizzou and to study either IT or business.  Paul also plays football.
