Laura Faintich

Women's Gymnastics Team Director

Laura Faintich is the Head Coach of SLGC Women's Gymnastics Team.  She is in her 9th coaching season with SLGC and is the Women's Team Levels 9 & 10 head coach for all events.  She also creates the beam and floor choreography for Levels 7-10.  Laura trained as a gymnast at Team Central and competed as a level 10 placing 6th & 8th on floor exercise at level 10 National Championships.  Laura won many state and regional titles throughout her career & received a full athletic scholarship to The University of Missouri, Columbia.

Mike Filla

Men's Gymnastics Team Director

Mike Filla is the Head Coach of the SLGC Men's Team.  While at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Mike was a member of the University's Men's Gymnastics Team (from 1999-2004) and a four year Varsity Letter winner.  Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and works as an accountant.  Mike attended DeSmet Jesuit High School and was Missouri State Men's Champion in 1999.

Paula Adams-Dempsey 

Recreational Team Director/Cheerleading Director

Paula has been with SLGC since 2000 holding various positions including her current responsibilities that encompass being the Director of both the Men's and Women's Recreational Teams as well as the Cheerleading Program.  Paula started her gymnastics education in Indianapolis, IN.  Ms Adams-Dempsey is in the second year of her term as the President of the SLGC Parent Organization and is a member of USAG Gymnastics.

Womens Gymnastics Team Coaches
Amy King - Women's Team Coach

Amy has been a head women's compulsory team coach at SLGC for nine years.  She is currently the Levels 7 & 8 beam and floor coach. A native of Webster Groves, Amy was an optional gymnast at SLGC.  Amy graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis with a degree in elementary education.

Michelle Redford - Women's Team Coach

Michelle Redford, who has been coaching gymnastics in the St. Louis area for 15 years, grew up in St. Charles and attended the YMCA there for 12 years.  Michelle enjoys coaching all levels of gymnastics from preschool through level 8.  Married to husband Jeff for 8 years, Michelle has two boys, Carter who is 4 and Mason, a two year old.

Carrie Hubbell - Women's Team Coach

Carrie Hubbell, who is in her fifth year at SLGC as a Levels 7 & 8 Women's Team vault and bars coach, has been a gymnastics instructor for 8 years in California and Missouri.  As a Level 10 gymnast she qualified for J.O. Nationals 4 times.  Carrie earned a full scholarship to the University of Illinois, Chicago, from which she graduated with a B.A. in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in Athletic Training.

Darrell Hazelwood - Women's Team Coach

Darrell began coaching gymnastics at SLGC in 1989.  He was the head women's coach for 12 years.  Currently he is a part-time coach for the women's optional and compulsory levels on Bars, Vault and Trampoline.  He has coached several State and Regional Champions as well as USAIGC National Team Members.  Darrell is a former gymnast and competed at Kent-Meridian High School in Kent, Washington.  He has a Masters Degree in Theology from Covenant Seminary.

Jenny Polk - Women's Team Coach

Jenny Polk, who has 15 years experience instructing competitive gymnasts, coaches Women's Team Levels 5 & 6.  She began working full-time at SLGC in June of 2007, after retiring from her 10 year career as an 8th grade Research Teacher.  Jenny coached at SLGC part-time for four years prior to her retirement from teaching.  Jenny has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and is working on her Masters in Special Education.  Jenny's daughter Bree is a Level 10 gymnast at SLGC>

Wendy Martin - Women's Junior Team Coach

Wendy Martin, who is responsible for the instruction of the Level 4 and 5 Women's Team members, began coaching at SLGC in 1999.  Wendy herself started gymnastics at the age of 7 and competed as a Level 9 gymnast at SLGC.  While attending the University of Missouri in Columbia, Wendy was a USAG team coach and the Instructional Program Coordinator at Show Me Gymnastics.  Wendy is also a TA at Westchester Elementary school in Kirkwood.

Megan Feldmeier - Women's Junior Team Coach

Megan Feldmeier, who is currently and Early Childhood Education major at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, has been a coach at SLGC for 10 years.  She coaches Level 4 & Future Stars, and was herself a gymnast for 5 years.  She was also a USAG Trampoline and Tumbling coach for 1 year.

Men's Gymnastics Team Coaches

Jason Selk - Men's Team Coach

Jason Selk, who was the SLGC Men's Team Head Coach for 12 years until 2005, now works with SLGC's senior male gymnasts.  Jason, who holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Education, is a sports psychology consultant and the Director and owner of Enhanced Performance, Inc.  His company is committed to helping athletes and organizations improve their performance.  Jason travels nationwide working with coaches and athletes to encourage the achievement of peak performance.  Jason himself is also the Sports Psychology Consultant for the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams.

Travis Kitchen - Men's Team Coach/Women's Recreational Team Coach

Travis Kitchen who, as Assistant Coach, works with the Level 4 and 5 Men's Team gymnasts, has coached at various times for SLGC since 1994.  Travis trained at SLGC and was State Champion from 1996-1998.  He was an Alternate National Team member in 1998 and went to J.O. Nationals twice.  Travis obtained his Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from Temple University where he not only competed for Temple's NCAA Team but also coached during the 2006-2007 season.

Recreational Gymnastics Team Coaches

Meg Nash - Women's Recreational Team Coach

Meg Nash is currently a Recreational Team coach specializing in beam, a position she has held for four years.  Meg herself was a gymnast in Connecticut and was coached for a period of time by Marta Karolyi.  Meg and Tim whom she has been married to for 15 years, have three children:  Kelly, a level 7 gymnast, Molly who is a member of the SLGC Future Star program and Maggie.  Meg also teaches art and previously worked on the comic strip "Prince Valiant" with her late father.

Mallory Reed - Women's Recreational Team Coach

A Webster Groves native was an SLGC gymnast for 11 years, currently coaches the Recreational Team (Levels 2-6) and other recreational classes at SLGC.  Mallory competed as a level 8 gymnast.  She has a Fine Art Degree from the University of Tulsa and is working toward her certification in elementary education at UMSL.

Emily Reid - Women's Recreational Team Coach

Emily Reid, who is currently a Fine Arts major at Fontbonne University, has coached gymnastics at SLGC since the spring of 2002.  She herself studied gymnastics at SLGC from age 6-13 after which she competed levels 5-8 at Planet Gymnastics until she was 17.  Emily, a Webster Groves native, coaches recreational classes as well as recreational team.  Emily specializes in coaching the floor exercise.

Travis Kitchen - Women's Recreational Team Coach/Men's Team Coach

Travis Kitchen who, as Assistant Men's Coach, works with the Level 4 and 5 Men's Team gymnasts and the level 4-6 Women's Recreational team gymnasts.  He has coached at various times for SLGC since 1994.  Travis trained at SLGC and was State Champion from 1996-1998.  He was an Alternate National Team member in 1998 and went to J.O. Luke Permowicz - Men's Recreational Team Coach

Luke is a 17 year old junior at Webster Groves High School and was a gymnast for seven years who competed level 7 here at SLGC.  Currently, Luke coaches the Future Stars and the Recreational Team.  He has also worked with the level 4 & 5 Men's team gymnasts.  Luke wants to attend The University of Central Missouri and major in actuary science.
